Level 3 Outage
It appears that there was (or still is) an issue with Level3 connectivity on the internet today which forced our website offline along with others including Facebook, Amazon, Amazon S3, Gmail, Google and Comcast.

Refer Your Friends And Win A Computer!
Starting on January 1st we will be running a special competition that will run for the whole of 2009.
Basically the person who refers the most sign-ups to MoarVideo.tv and then MoarVideo.com when launched, throughout 2009, will win a brand new computer. Not just some discount PC either, it will be a decent spec machine with a nice flat screen monitor, plenty of disk space and memory!
There will of course be conditions. The people signing up must make videos of themselves and they will have to remain active on the site throughout the year to count, this will help prevent cheating. They will have to be actively involved in the site to count so it's no good getting a friend involved, recording a number of videos in advance and adding them gradually! We'll monitor everything!
The person who gets the most people to MoarVideo will receive the computer from a supplier in their country. Everyone who registers and who counts as one of your referrals will also receive a free prize of some kind, at this time we don't know what but it won't be anything like a computer!
A league table will be published on MoarVideo showing who is winning the competition. This will be updated following every sign-up and every drop-out.
All the ruled will be published for the January 1st start. We want plenty of members on the site but we also want to make the place fun and we want to repay those who support us!
We will also be running monthly competitions and plenty of other fun stuff throughout 2009.
Discuss this HERE.

Dealing With Sock Accounts Etc
MoarVideo currently logs EVERY movement on our website, even though this is just a project website. If you are here with good intent then this shouldn't concern you. We only know what you are doing while on this website.
One of the biggest complaints vloggers speak of on video sharing websites is hate and harassment. This won't be tolerated on MoarVideo.com and our security and privacy features will be so much more tighter than here or on any other video sharing website on the internet. Obviously we will launch Phase 1 and then take your feedback so that we can make things tighter for Phase 2 and so on.
If you are stalked then you will be able to approach us and we will assist the authorities if you wish to take some kind of formal action, subject of course to legalities on providing such data. Basically if there's a police investigation, then we would assist them fully.
I have plenty of interest from the butthurt. For example, this is one of my regulars:
91.108.91.195 - Orange Home Broadband - Mac OS X - Safari 3.1 - Resolution 1680 x 1050 - customer7100.pool1.Bristol-AVN0950-BAS0001.orangehomedsl.co.uk
As you can see they are in the UK using Orange as their internet service provider. They are using a Mac and the Safari browser. Their screen resolution is 1680 x 1050. According to the IP address they are in Bristol but locations can sometimes be off target. Further investigations if needed can pinpoint the exact location. However "customer7100" is the key here - that is the EXACT customer i.e. Orange, their ISP, have that client's name and address, point of connection etc.
Basically when someone is here for the wrong reasons, behind the scenes we are logging things for your safety. This helps weeds out idiots and sock accounts. Can you imagine LV admin doing that? Well we have a continuous feed of data that is monitored 24/7.
There is absolutely nothing to be concered about if you access the site for the right reasons. All websites can monitor your information, the only difference is, we monitor in real time so that we can quickly identify idiots. That means you get a better website with hopefully less disruption.
When MV launches we will have an even more robust security system in place for tracking and banning people who want to spoil your time online. Anyone who registers using a proxy (to try and hide their IP address) will have their account denied/deleted.
At this time no other user or admin on MV can see your IP address.

How to handle the muppets
This was posted on MoarVideo.TV earlier today.

Ok so I made a decision to ban a member today by the name of Sully. The reason I banned this user was because of the following reasons:
a) they were registered on our public forums at koptalk but have never contributed - just lurked
b) when they registered on our public forums they used hidemyass.com's proxy service to hide their real IP address
c) they were registered on MV but never contributed - just lurked
----
Something didn't fit right, I sensed something wasn't right and that they were not on either site with good intent. I banned them and they then revealed that they were typing up a post which was about to appear on www.MoarVideo.tv so my instincts were right.
The member has since contacted me and sent me as follows. My response will follow:
----
I was going to post this as a comment but you saw fit to ban me.
I'll try and log on again later to see if it was a mistake, but boy does that help those stories about you gather pace. I heard stories about people being banned without warning from koptalk and didn't believe it could be for nothing. Now it's happened to me I'm not so sure.
What follows was some genuine advice in the hope you'd take it.
I don't think you can save the Koptalk thing any more because every other Liverpool site uses "Koptalk" in the same sort of breath it uses for "The Sun". People use more than one site and sooner or later they'll hear about you. And I've not seen you try to put people straight in an open and transparent way, you just seem to get angry and turn it into an argument about something else instead.
Here's what I was about to put into my comment. You call yourself "The Big Man" - well let's see if you are. Let's see if my ban is lifted and this constructive criticism gets posted here.
I'd rather that than go and post this on other video or LFC sites.
Sully.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I'm not telling you how to do your business but I used to be a member of your old koptalk site before you ended the lifetime membership thing. I wasn't sure why you ended that, I was away and then when I came back I couldn't log in. I tried to raise a support ticket but you were probably inundated. You ended all the free stuff, so that everyone had to pay to see anything.
I read rumours about you on other sites but didn't spend a lot of time reading it. A lot of accusations were levelled at you about forged signatures on football kits you sold and tickets for matches been sold for thousands of pounds. And something about a girl who was disabled but I didn't see much about that so I'm not sure what that was. I never followed it but the last I remember they were asking you to prove you had done nothing wrong, I don't know if you ever did.
Months or is it years later I found this place here because of somebody writing about you. Somebody wrote more negative stuff about you and a bit of surfing later and I found this site.
Part of what seemed to happen to your old site was that people were starting to spread bad word about you. I saw one or two people post things on the lifetime-membership silver club site who said that they had problems with you, then the post would be deleted when you hit refresh and they would no longer be members. PMs didn't work on the site for some reason and so we couldn't ask other members what happened.
There is a lot of criticism going on here and on other sites and being new to it all I don't know who's who and who's to be trusted. All those people fighting with each other and setting up new sites aren't hurting each other. The people in the middle are the normal users who want to use these sites and they're getting hurt.
If some of the thigns said about you are true this post will be deleted before anyone gets to read it but I suppose we'll see soon enough!
My advice, if you want it, is that you should be letting your members see what all this stuff is that is being said about you and you should be refuting it. And you should be thinking about the members here not the members who aren't here.
What is this advert thing? Is it some malware? Is it something Ning have added or has the person's computer got a virus checker that went a bit too sensitive? I have had virus checkers warn me about ads but it was all down to cookies that wouldn't hurt a flea.
It doesn't matter if the other guy should have come to you. Maybe he should, but maybe he believes all the negative stuff about you. By carefully checking his claim and putting our minds at rest you would have made him look silly. Instead people are probably thinking about tightening their security in internet explorer for ning and moarvideo.
I don't know if you will let this comment show up but I hope you do because I mean no harm. The little petty arguements are sounding childish and like something i have to deal with from my kids every day.
And we're only seeing half the argument, it's like listening to half a phone call on the train and you know how annyoing that gets. I might start looking for the other half of these arguments sooner or later but I'd rather not have to. I'm not much of a participant but I like watching and listening and laughing. But where are the laughs now?
You sound upset and angry, and like you're putting a brave face on it all. If you know they are all wrong you can respond in better ways than this.
How about getting your lead developer for moarvideo.com to do a short clip showing him and his team working on your new site, with some sneak previews of what it's going to look like?
Thanks for reading.
---
There are several points I will make in response to this person's message but I won't waste much of my time responding. This will be my only response.
First of all, both you and I know you have an agenda despite your attempt to dress it up differently.
If you were genuinely locked out of the KopTalk website when we made changes, you should have contacted support via the www.koptalk.info website. Support is available every day of the year online and by telephone. If you were a genuine member with a genuine right to be on the site, you would have been given access. If you found no joy with the support team you could have quite easily contacted me direct. I am available every day of the year, both you and I know this.
The reason such posts would usually be rejected either here or on KopTalk, where we continue to have thousands of members, is because this is my website, my home. You are more than welcome to go to any other websites and post your lies and conspiracies but I won't tolerate it in my own presence. If you came into my home and were abusive or spewed lies I would eject you. The same applies here and on KopTalk.
Family and friends continually see your efforts to try and "bring me down" but 3 years on, you have failed to do so. Indeed the opposite has happened. The attention continues to help and your promotion is more beneficial than you think.
You can try and be as disruptive as you like, you can name call, stalk people, stalk my family, stalk me but you will never succeed in stopping my passions.
I will give you the same advice as I would give any of my haters. If you believe I have ever comitted any form of crime, pick up a phone and call the police. You know my real name and my real address. Do it. Both you and I know that I haven't done anything. It is just a cheap way of trying to hurt someone's character.
KopTalk. MoarVideo and all my other projects, many of which you don't know about, will continue to strive while you continue to hate. I enjoy what I do and I enjoy the attention you give me. I have great satisfaction in knowing that you dedicated all your time to me. I am giving up my time to reply to you but that's because it creates drama and attention which is what I want for you to promote my interests.
Now if someone really had a genuine complaint about membership to KopTalk, then I would bend over backwards to ensure that is was resolved for them.
Everyone in life cannot get along. You and your friends don't like me, you may not approve of my editorial styles or my ideas. But that's life. It's time you grew up and accepted that. You can continue spamming the sites, writing your lies, bending truths or tarring me with your claims.... but after 3 years have you not got the message? I aint going anywhere and the more you attack me, my friends and my family, the more determined I shall be. Leave me alone and I'll get bored, I'd have nothing to fight against. But you're just so thick to see that.
I'm going to post your message and this reply on both sites and on all my blogs so you can see that what you spew makes no difference to me. At one time I used to try and cover it up as I was worried but then when people said "fuck em Dunk, we support you", I realised that were good people out there too.
Now I'll post this up for you but I'm not doing it with any more as it takes too much time and I have a lot to do.
Future posts by you will ignored and deleted. You do your thing if it makes you happy, I'll do my thing.
Thanks for visiting and thanks for supporting the projects I'm involved with.
And remember, I banned you before you posted, I had no idea that was coming. I guess my hunch was right. I guess that means Dunk Knows Best.

MoarVideo.com Not Scrapped
Just to assure those that don't understand what a 'Rick Roll' is, MoarVideo.com is very much alive and still under design/build.
The video I uploaded today titled 'No MoarVideo - I've Axed it' was a wind-up/prank/joke at the expense of those who want to see the project fail.
If you watched the video and though it was true then you were 'Rick Rolled'. Confused? Read more HERE.

Music & Television Videos
Music and television videos uploaded to MoarVideo.tv will be rejected during the approval process. If a user wishes to place a music video for example on their channel, they should obtain the embed code from YouTube. That way the video content resides on YouTube's servers and not ours.
It is not possible for us to determine if your video breaks any DMCA issues if you have background music etc on your videos. It would be impossible to determine this with every upload so such content will not be denied. However, if we receive any DMCA complaints we will inform you.
The approval process (when turned on) is to help prevent explicit material from appearing on the site, material that would be unsuitable for minors.
You are reminded that Ning can also reject/delete ANY videos from MoarVideo.TV without consulting or informating the channel owner or ourselves.

Content Approval
Vipor asked today in the shout box why video approval was enabled on the site. I'm then led to believe he made a video about it. I haven't seen that but I appreciate him raising the subject.
Content approval WILL be in force on MoarVideo.com when launched. However, trusted users, users that are known to us or are long term sensible contributors, will have auto-approval on their accounts.
VIP members will receive priority in terms of speed for having their content approved but they too will have to go through the review process unless they meet the auto-approval requirements.
We may turn content approval off in the future on the MoarVideo.com site but when we initially go live, that feature will be in use. As the MoarVideo.com website will have staff and admins on site 24/7, there should be no silly delays in approving content.
Copyrighted material must not be uploaded to our future website but when a user uploads content they will be declaring that they have permission to do so or are the copyright holder. If we received DMCA complaints they well be dealt accordingly following DMCA guidelines. Repeat offenders will have their accounts deleted. We will have a DMCA agent/expert that will deal with such complaints. Admin will primarily be looking to prevent porn and other explicity material from going live on the site.
Every user who uploads content not suitable for minors e.g. foul and abusive language, language of a sexual nature etc, will be required to mark their videos 18+. This is so that those videos do not appear when a user chooses to turn on the family filter. Even if your video is just yourself using the 'F' word only once, we will require that such content is marked 18+.
Marking a video 18+ will not be seen as a bad thing like on other sites, we just want a solid indicator that some languge or content may be unsuitable, not just for kids, but also for adults who may be in the company of others.
Videos marked 18+ will still show up across the site as normal - they just wont show when the family filter is turned on. This may not be the case at launch but this will certainly be in force not long after, if not during the BETA stages.
On the current MoarVideo.tv project site we do have a content approval feature. From time to time we use this feature. We also make the site available to members only (logged in users) at various times. We do this for precautionary measures. For example if we believe someone is lurking/browsing the site using a sock account with malicious intent, then we may switch content approval on.
Decisions are often made that ordinary users do not understand but you have to remember that decisions are ALWAYS made for the benefit of the whole site and every single sensible user on it. Sometimes we will be unable to explain or comment publicly on decisions, when that happens we ask you to trust us.
To compare our project site with other sites would be foolish. We could have quite easily thrown something up in no time but we want to provide a very safe, robust and sensible environment for people who deserve it, you, our members.
The very reason I started the project site was to learn, to obtain feedback and to update people who want to be a part of something very special. To dive straight in at the deep end wouldn't be very professional. Obtaining input from the actual users before launch enables me to give them what they want and not what I assume they want.

New Competition
Upload a video telling MoarVideo who your favourite cartoon character is and why and you will be entered into a draw to have your portrait turned into a hand-drawn cartoon like this one (but better looking!).
The winner will then be able to use their cartoon image as their avatar on MoarVideo and other sites. You can even use it on MSN, Skype etc!
We will enter all the names into a draw and pick the winner at random. A video of us doing this will and announcing the winner will be uploaded to MoarVideo on Monday!

Fake accounts, Sock accounts etc
When MoarVideo.com launches we will have numerous tools available to admin to detect and trace people who just want to be disruptive. Every action on the site will record the user's IP address. If they are using a proxy to access the site with the intent of faking their IP address, they will be immediately suspended.
Although these features are not currently in place on MoarVideo.tv (our project site), we are able to track the movements of every user. If you have nothing to hide and you are using the site with good, honest intent, you have no reason to be concerned.
Every log-in to the site is recorded. This means we can detect when someone has more than one account in use. At the moment there are several users using more than one account without making it known to us as to why. We have no objection to a user having more than one account providing it is not to troll others or to be disruptive.
We are monitoring several sock accounts that are not providing content i.e. videos, photos, blog or forum entries.
A sock account to us is someone who wants to use their channel purely to be disruptive or to try and mislead others including the admin. A sock account isn't someone who just wants to watch videos or lurk, providing they contribute with comments etc. We will be far stricter when MoarVideo.com launches but for now we are watching.
We're telling you this because we want our genuine, honest users to know that we take the disruption of the site seriously. And in the future, if anyone over steps the line, for example if someone threatens another user, then we will not hesitate to provide all the information we have on record for that user to the authorities.
Individual channel users will NOT be allowed to run anything on their channels to collect IP addresses, something which is common place on LiveVideo. The privacy of our users is taken seriously and we will do all we can to protect them.
If you are sent a link by someone you do not know be sure that it is a genuine link and that they are not trying to obtain your IP address. Your IP address gives away your location and people with bad intent could try to access your computer.
At the end of the day, if you are using MoarVideo for entertainment and you have nothing to hide in terms of misleading others or causing disruption, you have nothing to worry about.
Current admins on the MoarVideo.tv website can NOT see your IP address, only MoarVideo staff in our office can see this information.
We monitor every movement on the site and when we identify sock accounts we are compiling information on them for the security of the MoarVideo website and our users.
Those who wish to cause disruption do not concern us but we want to show our genuine users that we do care and that we are always on the site, even when it appears that we may not be.
Please note that we cannot trace your activity around the internet. We can only see what you are doing on MoarVideo and that is all that concerns us.

U.S. Connectivity
Some U.S. connections are finding the site down today. As a result. those of you who can access the site, may find the 'Chat' feature on the project site broken. This minor problem will resolve itself in due course.
Blogs vs Forums
Featured blogs currently appear on the front page to try and encourage people to use the forums for their brief discussions instead. If you look at the front page you will also see that the forums are now above the blogs for the same reason.
Over the last few weeks we have noticed a trend amongst users to post one-off questions in their blog sections because they were appearing in a prominent position on the front page of the project site. Those sort of posts are more appropriate for the discussion forums. They still appear on the front page but it makes for better interaction.

A New Look At Moar
Today we can show you some new pages that have been designed for the MoarVideo.com website.
These pages have not been approved as yet, it is just to give you an idea as to the design and where we're currently at.
